The News Pause

Why the news sticks

Staying informed makes sense. But there's a difference between informed and permanently flooded — one your mind clearly notices, often only in the evening. Three pages for a more deliberate news habit, free. A first look at how North & Mind Studio booklets are built.

More like this, most weeks: WhatsApp channel

This isn't about giving up the news. It's about you deciding when news gets space — not your feed.

Three steps, usable from today:

  • Choose fixed news times: one or two windows a day, about 15 minutes each. Not right after waking, not right before sleep.
  • Notice the impulse and name it: boredom, restlessness, habit? The impulse is allowed. You just don't have to follow it immediately.
  • Actively close each session: close the app, put the phone down, take one breath. Mark the ending — otherwise it just keeps running.

Some days it won't work — big events pull everyone in harder. That's not failure. What counts is the pattern over weeks, not the single day.
